Treatment of xanthelasma palpebrarum by ablative lasers, series of 14 cases

Background: Xanthelasma palpebrarum is the most common type of xanthoma. The objective our study was to evaluate efficacy and side effects ablative lasers in treatment xanthelasma. Material methods: We collected patients presenting xanthelasma eyelids treated by laser, over 3 years. Results: 14 patients, with a total 38 lesions, average age 52.9.We observed bilateral lesions 9 patients. Upper eyelid involvement frequent percentage 85.7%. Concerning types laser used, were CO2 laser,the other an erbium Yag laser. effects, we noted rapidly resolving edema slight hypo-pigmented atrophic scars Conclusion: Laser therapies are excellent cosmetic option for good minimal effects.
